India Vs England Match Ends In a Cracking Tie. World Cup is Alive!

You couldn't ask for more excitement in a cricket match, than what you've experienced today in the India Vs England match. It went up to the wire, with England needed 2 runs to win in the last ball and getting a single to tie the match, chasing India's mammoth target of 338 in 50 overs.

The game was totally dominated by Sehwag and Sachin earlier on, but later on England managed to take some breakthroughs. However, by that time India has laid foundation for a huge total.

India ended up scoring 338 in their allotted 50 overs, setting a target of 339 for victory for Englishmen. England responded well, with Strauss and Pieterson putting 68 for the first wicket, and then Strauss carrying on with another good partnership with Ian Bell for the third wicket. At 281 for 2 wickets at one stage, England was clearly the winners of the match with a good run rate maintained.

But, Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan took quick 3 wickets in his second spell to put England into deep trouble during their batting power play. Swann and Breasnan tried to get England back on track in their run chase, but they were no way near making it when Bresnan fell as the 8th wicket when the score was at 325.

At this stage, England required 14 runs off the last over, with only two wickets in hand. Indian fans were celebrating the victory already, but then came a huge six over mid wicket from the bat of England tail-ender Shahzad off the 3rd ball of the last over . That brought some hope into England camp once again, with the equation reading as 5 runs off the last 3 balls.

England managed to score 4 runs off the 3 balls and match ended up being tied. India and England awarded 1 point each.
